Why Pakistani Skin Gets Dehydrated Even When Oily

One of the most confusing skincare concepts for Pakistani beginners: oily skin can be dehydrated. Oiliness (sebum production) and hydration (water content) are completely separate functions. It is entirely possible — and extremely common in Pakistan — to have skin that is both oily AND lacking water.

The cause: Pakistan's air-conditioned offices and homes dramatically reduce humidity, causing skin to lose water continuously (transepidermal water loss). The skin responds by producing more oil as a compensatory barrier. The result: oily, shiny skin that feels tight after washing — classic signs of dehydrated-oily skin.

The solution is not to strip more oil with harsh cleansers (which worsens both oiliness and dehydration).
